The Matchless Prophet - His fingers

Hadhrat Anas (May Allah be well pleased with him) narrates, "When the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was in Zaura, a vessel was brought to Him. When He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) kept His hand in it, water started flooding out of His fingers. The Sahabah performed their ablutions with that water. Hadhrat Qatadah (May Allah be well pleased with him) says, I asked Anas (May Allah be well pleased with him) as to how many Sahabah were there? He replied, “300 or around 300.” (Sahih Bukhari Vol 1, Pg No: 504)

Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him) says, "On the day of Hudaibiyah, the Sahabah felt very thirsty. A vessel was placed in front of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم). He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) performed wudhu with it. The Sahabah came to Him. The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) asked, “What is the matter with you?” The Sahabah said: "O Prophet of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) except the water in your vessel, there is nothing for us to perform wudhu with or to drink." The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) kept His hand in the vessel. Water started flooding out from His fingers like a stream. Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him) says, “Then all of us drank from it and performed wudhu with it.” The narrator Hadhrat Salim (May Allah be well pleased with him) says: “I asked Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him), “How many Sahabah were there?” Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him) said: “It would have been sufficient for us even if we were a lakh. However, we were 1500.” (Sahih Bukhari Vol 2, Pg No: 598)

There are many miracles of water being released from His fingers. The blessings gained from the hand of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) were permanent. Those who got them would in turn become disseminators of divine grace. Musnad e Ahmad, M'ojam e Tabarani have a Hadith:

Hadhrat Khudaima (May Allah be well pleased with him) took his son Hadhrat Hanzlah (May Allah be well pleased with him) to the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and made some request. The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه) said to Hadhrat Hanzlah, “Come closer O child”. Hadhrat Hanzlah went closer. The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) put both His hands on his head and said, “May Allah bless you." The narrator of this Hadith says, “Whenever somebody's face or even an udder of a goat would get swollen, it would be brought to the notice of Hadhrat Hanzlah (May Allah be well pleased with him). He in turn would pass his hand over his head and say, “In the name of Allah, through the blessing of the hand of the Prophet of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم)” and rub his hand over the swelling and the swelling (or whatever) would disappear." (Kanzul Ummal Vol 1, Pg No: 327, Mawahib ma’a Zurqani, Vol 5, Pg No: 460)

The Matchless Prophet - His hands

When the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) took the pledge from the Sahabah, Allah SWT revealed the following verse and declared the Prophet’s hand as His own hand.

“…the Hand of Allah is over their hands…” Surah Fath (48:10)

Hadhrat Yazid bin Aswad (May Allah be well pleased with him) narrates about the hand of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) “I had the good fortune of meeting the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), I found that the His hand was cooler than ice and more fragrant than musk.” (Zurqani ‘al’al mawahib Vol 5, Pg No: 453)

Hadhrat Abu Juhaifah (May Allah be well pleased with him) says, “People would kiss His hands and rub them on their faces to gain blessings. I also took His hand and placed it on my  face. I found that it was cooler than ice and more fragrant than musk.” (Sahih Bukhari Vol 1, Pg No: 502)

His hands' miraculous attribute was that wherever He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) would place it, that place would be blessed forever. The blessings of His hand would heal diseases; remove troubles; dry udders of a goat would overflow with milk and streams of water would run forth from His fingers.

A wave of His hand would split the moon into two and the set sun would return.

Hadhrat Aiz bin Amr (May Allah be well pleased with him) narrates, "In the Battle of Hunayn, an arrow got stuck in my forehead; because of it, blood kept flowing on my head and chest. The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) wiped the blood off my face and chest with His hands and prayed for me. The blessing of His hand was such that the area He touched became bright and radiant." (Seerat halbiya Vol 2, Pg No: 128)

The Matchless Prophet - His saliva

The grandeur of His saliva is such that if He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) put His saliva into a well of salty water, it would become sweet. If His saliva would be applied on a wound, it would be obliterated that very instant. If it was applied to any painful spot, the pain would vanish as if it had never been there. Blessings would be the fate of those who acquired Barakah from His saliva.

On the occasion of the battle of Khaibar, due to some infection of the eye, Hadhrat Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him) had some pain in his eye (conjunctivitis). The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) summoned him and cast His saliva in both of his eyes. Then Hadhrat Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him) was cured in such a manner as if he never had any pain at all. (Sahih Bukhari Vol 2, Pg No: 606)

Hadhrat Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him)says, “From that time, (through the blessings of the Prophet’s saliva) I had never had any infection (pain) of the eye and neither did I have any headache.” (Zurqani ‘al’al mawahib Vol 5, Pg No: 289)

Once the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) asked for a pail of water and after drinking some water, He cast the rest of the water in the well. The narrator (rawi) says or that the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) squirted the water into the well. After this the well became as fragrant as musk and it remained like that forever. (Zurqani ‘al’al mawahib Vol 5, Pg No: 280)

In the same way on the day of Hudaibiyah, the Sahabah (May Allah be well pleased with all of them) entreated to the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) that they had ran out of water. The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) sat on the edge of the well and said, “Get me a pail of water from this well.” When it was brought Him, the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) cast His saliva into it and prayed. He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) ordered that it should be allowed to remain like that for sometime. Then till their departure from Hudaibiyah, the Sahabah drank from that water, and gave it to their animals. (Sahih Bukhari) Vol 2, Pg No. 598.

On the day of A’ashura, the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) ordered that the infants should be brought to Him; the sons of Hadhrat Fatima (May Allah be well pleased with her) i.e. Imam Hasan and Imam Hussain (May Allah be well pleased with them) were also there. The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) put His saliva in their mouths and instructed their mothers not to suckle them till dusk. The saliva of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم ) was sufficient for them and they did not need their mothers’ milk. (Zurqani ‘al’al mawahib Vol 5, Pg No: 289)

Hadhrat ‘Umairah bint Mas’ud (May Allah be well pleased with him) came to the presence of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) along with his sisters for the pledge (bai’). He saw the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم ) having Qadeed (dried meat). The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) gave him a piece of meat after chewing it. All of them shared from it. The blessing of it was such that none of them had mouth odor after this. (Khasais Kubra Vol 1, Pg No: 61/62)

It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Habeeb bin fidak (May Allah be well pleased with him) that his father took him to the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), when both his eyes had gone white. He could not see anything. The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) asked him, “What happened to you?” He replied, “My foot fell on a white snake and I lost my eyesight.” The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) cast His saliva into his eyes, because of whose blessings, he again started seeing. The narrator says that he would thread a needle at the age of 80 and his eyes were still white. (Khasais Ul Kubra Vol 2, Pg No: 69)

The Matchless Prophet - His power

The Holy Prophet’s (صلى الله عليه وسلم) power is not limited to this earthly world, but it holds good even in the heavenly and spiritual worlds. The way the already set sun turned back on His command, in the same way, on His command, the sun stopped its course, according to the Hadith given in Imam Suyuti's Khasaais Ul Kubra on the authority of Tabarani.

“The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) commanded the sun and it stopped its course for 1 sa’aa (a period of time).” (Khasais Kubra, Vol 2, Pg No: 82)

The Matchless Prophet - His mouth and speech

The Holy Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وسلم) had a full mouth. He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) had a beautiful voice. His voice had the miraculous quality that whenever He gave a sermon, even the women in the houses would hear it. When He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) gave the sermon in Mina, apart from the 1 lakh plus Sahabah, the inhabitants of Makkah also heard it.

Once during a sermon, He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “Sit down” Hadhrat Abdullah bin Rawaha who was with the tribe of Bani Ghanam also sat down.

When the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) spoke, a radiance would issue from His teeth.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Abbas (May Allah be well pleased with them) says that the Holy Prophet’s (صلى الله عليه وسلم) teeth are well spaced. Whenever He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) spoke a radiance could be seen between His teeth. The words of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم ) are endorsed by Allah SWT with the words:

Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire - Surah Najm (53:03)

The Prophet’s (صلى الله عليه وسلم) speech was eloquent and sweet. His speech was very pleasing and would stir the very depths of the heart. His eloquence was such that none could match it.

Hadhrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (May Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that he went to the presence of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and said: "O Prophet of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم), I have toured the entire Arabian peninsula. I have heard the poets of Arabia but I have never heard anybody as eloquent as You." The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه) said, "My Lord i.e. Allah SWT taught Me and brought Me up and how well has He taught Me."

He would always speak the truth. In happiness and in sorrow, He would speak only the truth as Hadhrat Abdullah bin Umar (May Allah be well pleased with him) says that he asked the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), “O Prophet of Allah SWT, Should I write whatever I hear from you? He said “Yes.” I asked “Even in happiness and in sorrow?” He said, “Yes, as I speak only the truth in all circumstances.”

It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Salma bin Akwah (May Allah be well pleased with him) that in the presence of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), a person ate with his left hand. The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “Eat with your right hand.” He said, “I can’t.” He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “May you cannot.” That man’s pride stopped him from obeying the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم). Hadhrat Salma bin Akwah (May Allah be well pleased with him) says, “He could not raise his hand to his mouth after that.”

It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) gave a sermon before us. In His sermon, He said, "O people, Haj has been made obligatory for you. So perform Haj.” A Sahabi asked, “O Prophet of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم), Is Haj obligatory every year?" The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) held His peace. The Sahabi repeated his question 3 times. Then the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “If I had said ‘yes,’ Haj would have become obligatory every year and you could not have afforded this.” (Sahih Muslim, Vol 1, Pg No: 432)

The Matchless Prophet - His hearing

Sounds from near and far are the same for the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم). He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) would be seated on this earth and would hear the creaking of the sky.

It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Dar Ghifari (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم): "I see what you can’t, I hear what you can’t. The sky creaks and its creaking is necessary. For there is not a span of even a hand’s width that is not filled with angels prostrating before the Lord Almighty Allah SWT." (Jame Tirmidhi, Vol 2, Pg No: 57)

Whenever any follower of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) calls out to Him, He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) hears the call and helps that follower.

Ummul Momineen Hadhrat Maimoona (May Allah be well pleased with him) says that on a certain night, she heard the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) saying while in the washroom: “You have been helped, You have been helped.” I asked Him (صلى الله عليه وسلم) about this. He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) replied it was a person from Bani Ka’ab who requested Me for help.”

Imam Suyuti (May Allah shower His mercy on him) has related a Hadith in Khasais ul Kubra on the authority of Baihaqi, Sabuni, Khateeb and Ibn e Asakar.

Hadhrat Abbas (May Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that he told the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم): "O Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), a sign of Your Prophethood made me embrace Islam. I saw You in Your cradle, You would talk to the moon. Wherever You would point Your hand, the moon would move there." The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, "I talked to it and it talked to Me. It played with Me. When it would prostrate under the ‘Arsh, I would hear the sound of its falling."

The Matchless Prophet - His sight

The Holy Prophet’s (صلى الله عليه وسلم) sight was such that when He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) saw Allah SWT, neither did His eye did not blink nor cross the limits of propriety (adab).

(His) sight never swerved nor did it go wrong! Surah Najm (53:17)

The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) would see in all 6 directions at once-i.e. front, back, right left, above and below.

Nothing in the earth or sky is hidden from His sight. (صلى الله عليه وسلم).

It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah who reports that the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Do you think that only the spot of prostration is before Me? By Allah, your ruku and your sincerity are not hidden from Me. Certainly I see you even from behind My back.”

The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) would see the Heaven and Hell over the skies. It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Asma (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said in His sermon: “I have seen all the things of this universe from where I stood, to the extent that I have seen Heaven and hell also.” (Sahih Bukhari  Vol 1, Pg No: 126, Pg No: 18)

The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “Without doubt Allah SWT had placed the whole earth in front of Me and I saw its ends.” (Sahih Muslim Vol 2, Pg No: 390, Zujajatul Masabeeh, Vol 5, Pg No; 9)

The Matchless Prophet - Blessings from His hair

Hadhrat Khalid bin Walid (May Allah be well pleased with him) participated in many battles. The opposing army would be many times greater than the Muslim army. Still, Hadhrat Khalid bin Walid (May Allah be well pleased with him) would come back victorious.

Hadhrat Khalid (May Allah be well pleased with him) himself says, “The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) performed an Umrah and ordered His head to be shaved. Other people were taking the hair which were on the sides of His head. I went forward and took the hair which were on the top of His head i.e. the hair above the forehead and kept those hair in my cap. Whenever I wore this cap in any battle, I was helped and returned victorious.” (Khasais Kubra Vol 1, Pg No: 68, Fath ul Bari bab manaqibi Khalid ibn al Walid raziallahu anhu, Vol 7, Pg No: 471, Hujjatullahi alal alameen Pg No: 489)

Hadhrat Osman bin Abdullah (May Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that my wife gave me a bowl of water and sent me to Hadhrat Umme Salma (May Allah be well pleased with him). It was her i.e. his mother’s custom that whenever anybody fell ill, she would send a big container of water to Hadhrat Umme salma (May Allah be well pleased with him). Hadhrat Umme Salma (May Allah be well pleased with him) had the hair of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) which she kept in a silver casing. She would dip the silver casing in the water and the affected people would drink that water. The narrator says, “I looked in the silver casing. It had some red hair of Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). (Sahih Bukhari Vol 2, Pg No: 875. Zujajatul Masabeeh, Vol 3, Pg No: 442, Mishkat ul Masabeeh Pg No: 391)

The Matchless Prophet - His radiance

Allah SWT sent His beloved Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) with radiance. There is mention of this in His word- The Holy Quran also "Lo! There has come to you a Noor the Prophet and a lucid book"-Surah Maida (5:15)

The Exegetes (Mufassirin) have explained this verse. The “Noor” mentioned here is the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and the book is the Holy Quran. Tafseer Jalalyn, Baydhawi, Ma’alim ut Tanzeel, Tafseer Kabir etc. Musnad e Ahmad, Tabarani and Baihaqi have a Hadith on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Umama (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, "I am the prayer of my forefather Ibrahim (Peace be upon him) and the greeting of Hadhrat Isa (Peace be upon him). When I was in her womb, my mother saw that a radiance issued forth from her womb and even the mansions of Syria were lighted up with it."- Khasais Kubra, Vol 1, Pg No: 46.

The radiance of His face was such that His mere presence would light up a place. His radiance would eclipse the light of any lamp, even the sun. It would seem that the sun would draw from the face of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم).

Hadhrat Aisha (May Allah be well pleased with her) narrates, "The Holy Prophet’s (صلى الله عليه وسلم) face was the most beautiful among all men and His Complexion was the most luminous."

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Umar (May Allah be well pleased with him) says, "I have never seen anybody stronger and braver; more generous and more benevolent, more pure and more radiant than the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم)." (Sunan Darmi, Vol 1, Pg No: 30)

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Abbas (May Allah be well pleased with them) says, “The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) had no shadow. His radiance would eclipse even the bright sun. In front of a lighted lamp, His radiance would be more powerful.” (Subul ul Huda war rashad, Vol 2, Pg No: 39/40)

The luminosity of his face would further increase on occasions of happiness and joy. As Hadhrat Ka’ab bin Malik (May Allah be well pleased with him) says, "Whenever the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was happy, His face would become even more luminous." (Sahih Bukhari, Vol 1, Pg No: 502)

The Matchless Prophet - The Grandeur of His person

Hadhrat Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him) describes the person of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) in these words,

The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is neither too tall nor too short, He is of a moderate height, (but it is a miracle of His person that in spite of being of medium-stature, whenever He would walk along with a tall person, He would be taller than the tall person). His hair are neither curled with rings nor lank, but are curved. (His hair were sometimes till the earlobes, sometimes till half way to the neck, and when they went beyond it, till the end of His neck. They never went beyond this). He is not very fat and neither is His face round. His face is a bit round, fair and its complexion is white mixed with red. The black of His eyes is a deep black and their white is a clear white. His eyelashes are long. His body is clean of hair. There is a line of hair between His chest and His navel. His palms and feet are muscular. When He would walk, He would raise His feet with effort, as if He was descending from a higher place to a lower one. Whenever He would pay attention to somebody, He would turn with His whole body towards them. Between His shoulders is the seal of Prophethood and He is the Seal of all Prophets. He is the most generous, the most truthful, the most gentle and would treat others in the best manner. Somebody who saw Him suddenly would be awed by Him and the one who would keep in mind His status and meet Him would be captivated. Those who describe His attributes say, “I have never seen anybody like Him either before Him or after him.” (Shamail Tirmidhi, Pg No: 1)

Allah SWT has kept His Beloved and Pure Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) free from all kinds of blemishes and flaws- be them external or internal. His body was fashioned out of Noor. No fly ever sat on His Person, nor on His clothes.

Imam Zurqani says, “The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is Noor. Flies, lice etc come because of any dirtiness and foul odor. The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is pure from any kind of blemish and His body is fragrant.”

The Matchless Prophet - His beauty

The perfection of His beauty was such that even those companions who used to be present in His presence day and night could not bear an eyeful of it.

There is a Hadith in Sahih Muslim:
Hadhrat ‘Amr bin A’as (May Allah be well pleased with him) says, “Nobody is dearer to me than the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم); and nobody, in my opinion, is more noble and honorable than Him; because of the Holy Prophet’s (صلى الله عليه وسلم) grandeur and magnificence, I could never take a good look at Him. If anyone asks me about His personality, I cannot describe it as I could never take a good look at Him.”- Sahih Muslim, Vol 1, Pg no. 76.

Hadhrat Bara bin A’azib (May Allah be well pleased with him), says:
“With respect to His face and His person, the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is the best among all people. (Sahih Bukhari- Vol 1, Pg No: 502)

The body of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was matchless. It was very fine and exquisite. The fragrance which emanated from His body would not only make the surroundings fragrant, but would revivify the very soul of all those who were present with Him (صلى الله عليه وسلم).

His complexion is white mixed with red, as if fashioned out of silver.

The Matchless Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

Allah SWT has granted the Holy Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وسلم) such grandeur and superiority; such attributes and qualities that nobody else has been given anything even remotely similar like them. His is the ultimate beauty. His whole person has been created matchless. The beauty of Hadhrat Yousuf (Peace be upon him) is only an iota of the beauty of the Holy Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وسلم). The heavenly bodies draw their illumination from Him. The very lights of the universe and its brightness are only through the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم).

In terms of personality, character, beauty, grandeur, eminence and in all other aspects, Allah SWT has made His Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وسلم) matchless.

Every aspect of His personality exclaims that there is no parallel to the Holy Prophet(صلى الله عليه وسلم). Every part and aspect of His person is a clear proof that the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is the perfect human being. Mankind has reached its perfection through Him.

The commentator of Sahih Bukhari, Imam Qustullani (May Allah shower him with His Mercy) says, "Understand clearly that the perfection of Iman (Faith) is to believe that Allah SWT has created the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) in such a way that nobody else like Him was neither created before Him nor after Him." (Mawahib ma’a Zurqani, Vol 5 Pg No: 239)

The Sahabah who describe Him say, "We haven’t seen anybody like Him before Him or after Him.” (Sahih Bukhari, Vol 1, Pg No: 87, Jame’ Tirmidhi, Vol 2, Pg No: 205, Shamail Tirmidhi, Pg No: 1)

Words fall short of describing the true beauty of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم). Languages complain of their poverty, for the sake of blessings, the beauty of the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) has been described in brief. If His beauty is revealed in its entirety, we will not be able to bear the radiance of His matchless personality.

Imam Qustullani (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) relates on the authority of Imam Qurtubi: "The Holy Prophet's (صلى الله عليه وسلم) beauty has not been revealed completely to us. If it was done so, then our eyes would not be able to bear His sight."

A description of His beauty shows that He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is the best of all human beings. The matchless radiance of His face; the extraordinary reach of His sight and hearing; His miraculous eloquence; the blessings of his saliva; the power of His hand; grandeur and eminence in His whole person are clear proof that there is none like Him in the world and there is no parallel to Him in the spiritual worlds. The way the dwellers of this world discuss His matchlessness, in the same way, His minister in the spiritual world, Hadhrat Jibril (Peace be upon him) also declares His superiority.

Baihaqi, Tabarani and Asaker relate a tradition: "I have combed the east and west of the earth, but I have not found any one as eminent as Hadhrat Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم).

My Muhammad ( صلى الله عليه وسلم )

May be a small but I am your Insane
May be a bigger sinner but I still
Search for your foot prints on the Lane
No shadow of yours
A Character so pure
A Mercy to all the worlds
Only Inspiration for all the good work
May be I Lie, but many times
I talk about you till I cry
I never saw you that’s true
I still believe that you washed out our sins
And made us new
They call you a Prophet
They call you a messenger
Don’t know about them
But my soul to your
Belief I have surrendered
I think about you the whole day
Talk about you the whole night
It gives me light
Makes me look bright
I can never be wrong if I say
All your deeds were always right
They say all of them were same
But I prefer only taking your name
The moment you came
Everything changed in our life
Our crocked path got a straight sight
You saved us from getting ashamed
Gave us the way to get the eternal fame
Keeping us away from the flames
You the only Praise worthy one
The purely wise one
The one to make us clean
From all the dirt
To be called as Ahmed
Or my Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلّم)

Love for the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

When the Month of Rabi-ul-Awwal arrives and the moon of this glorious month is sighted, then the gardens of Islam begin to bloom illuminating the fragrance of the most beautifully scented of flowers, the pearl of the creation of Allah, Muhammad Mustafa (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam).

It was in his Sadaqah that the entire universe came into existence. It was for his welcome and to inform the creation of his coming that Almighty Allah sent various other Prophets on earth. If Almighty Allah had not sent the Holy Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam), He would not have revealed His Rububiyah. He is the Noor of Almighty Allah, Leader and Imam of the Ambiya and the Rasools. He is the hope of the distraught and the intercessor for the sinners. He is the Maalik of Jannah and the distributor of the Ne'mahs of Almighty Allah. He is the pride and honour of the skies and of the earth. The Throne and the rest of the Universe rejoiced on the birth of Rasoolullah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam).

"Verily, there has come unto you a Messenger (Muhammad ) from amongst yourselves (i.e. whom you know well). It grieves him that you should receive any injury or difficulty. He (Muhammad ) is anxious over you (to be rightly guided, to repent to Allah, and beg Him to pardon and forgive your sins, in order that you may enter Paradise and be saved from the punishment of the Hell-fire), for the believers (he is) full of pity, kind, and merciful."(At Tauba:128)

The Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) is not only the perfect human, but he is the splendour of humanity. He is not only for a single nation, one city, one town or one country, but he is the mercy unto the worlds until Qiyamah. All the success and benefits of the world are under the feet of Rasoolullah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam). All the levels and path that lead to Almighty Allah find their basis from him. Thus, we should remember him in every breath, on every step and in every time.

A Muslim may make much Salaah, keep much Roza and perform many Hajj as possible, but until he does not make his heart the city of love for the Holy Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam), his faith is incomplete. It is the Hadith that none is a true believer unless he loves the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) more than his life, family, parents and belongings.

Muhammad (PBUH) said: "No one can be a true believer without loving me more than his fortune, his children and all people." Narrated by Al Bukhari.

Almighty Allah loves the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) so dearly that He swears an oath on the city, era and age of the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam). With His Name Allah always mentions the name of the Holy Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam), showing his excellence. When Almighty Alah spoke of other Ambiya, He used their names, but for Huzoor (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) he used his blessed titles. He loves him so dearly that He and His Angels send salaams for His Habeeb (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam).

"Lo! Allah and His angels shower blessings on the Prophet. O ye who believe! Ask blessings on him and salute him with a worthy salutation." (Al Ahzab:56)

Love for the Holy Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) is love for Almighty Allah. Without his obedience, there is no obedience to Almighty Allah. Not only should we send Peace and Salutations, but we should spread the teachings of his life and the Sunnah of Rasoolullah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam). It is useless calling his name while being disobedient to him. As we know, Love Precedes Obedience, I.e; obedience comes out of love. If you truly love him, you will be steadfast in your Salaah. You will never lie and commit sin. A true lover will never use anything that is Haraam. He will always serve the Servants of Allah and follow the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam).

"He who obeys the Messenger (Muhammad), has indeed obeyed Allah, but he who turns away, then we have not sent you (O Muhammad) as a watcher over them." (An Nissa’:80)

"Say (O Muhammad to mankind): "If you (really) love Allah then follow me, Allah will love you" ( Al Imraan:31)

He who loves him truly will not have pride and show disrespect to his elders. He will always be patient and grateful. The reason for this is that true love holds great tests and success is to accept the beloved totally. True love and respect for the Holy Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) is the first condition of Imaan.

May our lives and death be blessed with the love of our Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam). Aameen..

How to become a Lover of Rasul Allah (s.a.w)

Hazrat Ibn Abdullah Ansari (r.a) narrates that he asked the Prophet RasulAllah (s.a.w), “What was created first?”

Rasul Allah (s.a.w) replied: “The first thing that Allah created was my Noor with his own Noor, before anything else. The Noor was floating about and travelling wherever Allah wished. Then Allah wanted to create everything, so he split the Noor into four parts. With the first He created the Pen, with the second he created the tablet of destiny, with the third he created the Arsh, and He split fourth into another four.

With the first of that, He created the angels that would carry His throne, with the second He created His throne, with the third He created the rest of His angels, and He split the fourth into another four.

With the first He created the Heavens, with the second the planets, with the third he created paradise and hell, and he split the fourth into another four.

With the first of that he created the Noor of the Mumin’s eyes, with the second he created the Noor of the Mumin’s hearts and with the third he
created love…”
(This Hadith has been narrated by Hazrat Abdul Razzaq (r.a), in his book Fatawa-e-Hadithia, page 289.)

It is clear from the above Hadith that the Rasul Allah (s.a.w) Noor is manifest in all of creation. The universe was dark before it was illuminated by the Noor of Rasul Allah (s.a.w) .The Noor of Rasul Allah (s.a.w) is manifest even in the sun. The sun never sets; it is always shining somewhere. And the people whose eyes have been blessed by Allah the almighty can see the Noor of Rasul Allah (s.a.w) present in the core of the sun. All the miracles of nature are under the command of the Rasul Allah (s.a.w).’

Oh Jibrail, how old are you?”

He replied: “I do not know. But I know this much that there was a star in the fourth heaven that used to shine after every 70,000 years and I have seen that star 72,000 times.”

On hearing this Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “By the honour of Allah the almighty, I am that star!”

70000 x 72000 = 5,040,000,000 (five billion, forty million) years. That star that shone for billions of years before creation – is it not shining now?

Imam Qastalani (r.a) writes that when Allah the almighty created Hazrat Adam (a.s), Allah put in his heart: “Oh Allah, why is one of my names Abu Muhammad?”

Allah told him to raise his head. When he looked up, he saw a Noor and he asked: “Oh Allah what is this Noor?” Allah the almighty replied: “This is the Noor of a Prophet from among your descendents. His name in the heavens is Ahmad (s.a.w) and on the earth Muhammad (s.a.w). If it was not for him I would not have created you, nor would have I created the heavens or the earth.”

Whoever learned to live, learned to live because of Rasul Allah (s.a.w). Whoever got something or received something, received it because of Rasul Allah (s.a.w).

There is no blessing in any gathering that does not have his name mentioned in it. The remembrance of Rasul Allah (s.a.w) is the sole reason for the beauty of this world. The excitement and the exhilaration we feel in this world is because of Him (s.a.w).

If someone insulted Allah the almighty, Allah may choose to ignore the person’s indiscretion. But if someone insulted the Habib of Allah (s.a.w) He will never ignore this.

When the people of Salih (a.s) hamstrung the camel of Hazrat Salih (a.s), Allah the almighty did not tolerate this and destroyed them. The people of Salih (a.s) hamstrung the camel of Salih (a.s) and Allah destroyed them all. But the people had been denying the existence of Allah the almighty for a long time before they hamstrung the camel.

The punishment came because they insulted the Prophet of Allah – by killing his camel. Allah the almighty did not tolerate this. Then consider this – what about insulting the Habib of Allah, Rasul Allah (s.a.w).

To say again and again, by calling out their names that the Prophets can’t do anything and don’t know anything is inexcusable and disrespectful.

This is like standing in the presence of the King and saying that the King’s minister is nothing, has no authority and can do nothing – declaring that all the control is the King’s hand. To say this in the presence of the whole court of the King is something the King will not tolerate. It is true that in the presence of the King, nobody has any authority. But inspite of this, asserting that the minister cannot do anything is an insult to the King. It is the King who has given the authority to the minister. Hence, to deny the authority of the minister is to deny the authority of the King.

Likewise it is Allah who has given the authority to the Prophets (a.s) and to deny this in His presence is not only an insult to the Prophets (a.s) but also an insult to Allah the Almighty.

And understand this as well! The love of Rasul Allah (s.a.w) is higher in status than the obedience of Allah the almighty. You may be obedient to Allah but might not love Rasul Allah (s.a.w). But if you truly love Rasul Allah (s.a.w), then you will be obedient to Allah the almighty.

Obedience can be without love. For example, a servant may be obedient to his master but that does not mean he loves his master. It is quite possible that the servant may obey his master but when he meets with other people he is disrespectful to his master. But a lover can never criticize his beloved. If this is true for an ordinary lover and his beloved – then how can we even dare to criticize and question the best of creation, the one who has no faults, the embodiment of perfection Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.

Whenever anyone was gripped with misfortune, he escaped his calamity through remembrance of Rasul Allah (s.a.w). Do you think that Allah the almighty can ignore the remembrance of His beloved? No never!

Everlasting contentment and exhilaration in the love of Rasul Allah (s.a.w) is drinking a glass full of His love. If this glass was for sale, we would sell everything to get it. What are crowns and thrones – we would sell our souls to get this one drink of the love of Him (s.a.w).

Oh the King of Beauty (s.a.w)! Neither to listen, nor to say anything but simply waste away and remain engrossed in your love. Rasul Allah (s.a.w) is the best life in this world. Our sayings, if based on true love, in praise of Rasul (s.a.w) are above shirk. Our condition is pitiable; we do not even have the words that can justify the magnificence and splendour of Rasul Allah (s.a.w). How can we, the worthless statues of clay, adequately praise the Habib (s.a.w) of Allah the almighty?

Ya Rasul Allah (s.a.w)! If we sacrificed our wealth, our lives, our souls for you – even then we would not have fulfilled the rights of Your love. To sacrifice everything for you is what love truly is.

Without Him (s.a.w) what Jannah is that? To wither away in the search for Rasul Allah (s.a.w) is better than paradise. Without finding Him (s.a.w) there is no comfort what so ever. This sort of shirk we do every day – and neither do we refrain from it and nor will we avoid it.

The author, Babaji Sarkar Alayhi Rahma, says if according to some people, Allah the almighty will command me to be thrown in to the fire of Hell for the crime of loving Rasul Allah (s.a.w) – then this humble servant with his heart full of love for Him Rasul Allah (s.a.w) will jump in to the fire of Hell with no fear whatsoever! To be in the fire of Hell with His love Rasul Allah (s.a.w) is a lot better than going to paradise without Him. And understand this as well – no fire can ever overcome the Noor (Light) of Rasul Allah (s.a.w). The love of Rasul Allah (s.a.w) will cool the fire of Hell – and this is such a strong part of my Iman that no reasoning and no amount of argument can ever change it.

What you think will get me thrown in the fire of hell – for me it is the key to paradise. It is possible that on the Day of Judgment, Allah the almighty may not forgive the one who prayed five times a day. But there is no doubt that the Ashiq E Rasul (s.a.w); lover of Rasul Allah (s.a.w) will undeniably be forgiven.

Hell fire is haram for the lovers of Rasul Allah (s.a.w). The fire of hell can never burn the true lover of the beloved of Allah, the almighty and neither will Rasul Allah (s.a.w) be able to bear seeing his lover in the fire of Hell.

You have everything but the love of Rasul Allah (s.a.w) – it is as if you have nothing.

O my Master, Rasul Allah (s.a.w), may my soul be sacrificed for you! This world is in existence because of your one smile. This world and all that is in it has been decorated just for You. You are the sole purpose for the whole of creation.

Ya Rasul Allah (s.a.w), your one look of affection is enough for my whole life. Ya Habib Allah (s.a.w), we do not have the words to justify your magnificence. This is the reason why we are silent. Whenever somebody called out to you Rasul Allah (s.a.w), You never turned him away.

Ya Rasul Allah (s.a.w), hear our call now as well! We desired but were unable to do. Our last wish is that we come walking on our heads and sacrifice our lives for you (s.a.w)!’

May Allah the almighty grant us the true, authentic and sincere love of Rasul Allah (s.a.w)! Ameen Ya Rabb.

The Hindu Aashiq-e-Rasool !

This is quite an old incident of a man in India. His name was Dillo Ram. He was a very famous Hindu poet.

One day his fellow hindus said, "Oh Dillo Ram, whats wrong with you, are you gone mad? you are a hindu and how come you praise the Prophet of Islam???". Dillo Ram sighed and said, "Please dont stop me, I have fallen in love with Bibi Fatima's baba!"

He wrote many poems in praise of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w), and one went like this. He says:

There is no condition that you have to be Muslim to love prophet Muhammad (s.a.w).
If somebody hides the sun and moon in his lap,
If someone with their hands picks the stars collects them!
If somebody lifts the entire treasure's of the world and puts it on his hands,
And then if somebody asks me what do you want?
Do you want sun, moon, stars, the entire treasuere of the world?
Then I shall say that all I want is to put the shoes of Muhammad (s.a.w) on my eyes!!

His naats caused uproar amongst Hindus, that one of the most famous Hindu poets of his time was doing this!!

His love got unbearable and increased as each day passed. He one day put a chain around his neck and feet and stood in the middle of Delhi Bazaar and said, "Listen, listen, oh my brothers and sisters, listen, oh my fellow humans, listen!!!"

He stood on a high place in the market and shouted from the top of his voice;

"YA MUHAMMAD (s.a.w)!!,
Yes Muhammad (s.a.w) is the love of Allah,
Muhammad (s.a.w) is the first and only Love of Allah,
If Allah loved you,
He loved you because of His Beloved!!
Muhammed (s.a.w) is the Sultan!!
He is the greatest of the greats!!
he is the King of kings!!"

He actually done this on a regular basis, it is said people even stoned him, and he would come home covered in blood! Despite all this, he would continue proclaiming the name of Muhammad (s.a.w).

His death approached him in later life, and he was in a very poor condition, and everyone knew he was breathing his last breaths! And all of a suddenly Dillo Ram got up and ordered for all of his relative to stand too.

Dillo ram started reciting the poetry he had written, with his head lowered; ALLAH O AKBAR! The Holy Prophet (s.a.w) had come to a hindu!!!

Dillo Ram fell to his knees and said "what brings you, Oh my Beloved ?" The Holy Prophet (s.a.w) said, "Listen, malaikul maut (angel of death) is approaching and I cannot bear to see my naatkhawn (reciter of naat) go to hell, so I urge you read the kalima (testimony of faith) and become muslim and I shall take you to heaven on the day of reckoning"

Dillo Ram read the kalima and hence became a Muslim from the source of Islam! He then said "Ya Rasoolallah (s.a.w), now that you have made me Muslim, can you give me an Islamic name?" and he was named KAUSAR ALI KAUSARI..
SubhanAllah.. what a beautiful name!

The Prophet of Islam

The crown of creation set with richest gems
Diamonds and rubies in value beyond ken
Unequaled in brilliance, unique of kind
Are thou, O great Prophet! to all mankind.
Truthful by nature and of most saintly men,
All called thee the Trusty, the Al-Ameen,
Most loving to children, courteous to all,
To animals, tender, alike to great and small,
Never on earth a nobler soul has trod,
Never had another showed a truer way to God.
O sweetest flower that ever on earth did bloom,
Matchless alike in divine beauty and perfume,
O whitest lily that human eyes have seen,
O loveliest rose that in the world had been.
All nature join in homage, all men adore
Thee who brought light to a dark some world,
Thee whose teachings are as a necklace of pearls
Which when worn does radiant beauty impart,
Adding luster to body, soul and to heart.
Ya Rasool-Allah! our dearest friend and guide,
May God's eternal blessings with thee abide.
From the Arabian deserts thou surrounded thy call
To the worship of God, the Lord of all:
From the Arabian deserts thou taught mankind
Now the truest knowledge of God to find.
Thy words flew as lightening the whole world around
Of Truth and Light they did fully abound,
And nations, acknowledging the power of their sway,
Did find and follow the most truthful way.
In the wake of thy words true piety did spring,
And great knowledge and virtues did truly bring.
Never on earth a better soul was born,
Never the world did a purer soul adorn.
Man was fast sinking in idolatry and sin
When thy great mission did first begin.
Then in place of darkness thou Light did give,
And taught mankind the noblest way to live;
And reformed the world as never before,
And unique blessings on it did bestow.
Praise be to Allah for this favor divine
In sending thee the wicked world to refine,
Search the world though we may find from pole to pole
While the great ocean of time does onward roll,
A more perfect Prophet never can we find
Than thee who, thank God, gave Islam to mankind
O Rasool-Allah! my homage I make to thee,
O Nabi-Allah! my love I tender thee,
My life, my all, for thee I gladly give,
Thy divine messages shall with me forever live
My love for thee no bounds does know,
In my heart thy memory shall ever glow
May Allah shower His choicest blessings on thee
May Allah grant thee peace for all eternity.
(Ameen)

Love of the Prophet

Without love of the Prophet none reaches Allah,
He who is not the Prophet's is not Allah's.
In whose eyes there is an absence of LOVE,
He shall never behold the beauty of the beloved.
Belief is incomplete without the Prophet's LOVE,
Any monotheist shall never a Muslim be.
Prayer, alms, fast and pilgrimage all done,
alas, then too, I can never be a Muslim.
Until I am sacrificed to the honour of Mustafa (صلى الله عليه وسلم),
God Witness - my belief shall never attain perfection.

My Beloved

What words are there to reflect
The beauty of my Beloved
The fishes in the sea and the
Angels in heaven, send salutations of respect.
In honor of my Beloved.

What perfume can compare
To the fragrance of my Beloved.
Nightingales spin a song of yearning.
The butterflies dance through the air.
In admiration of my Beloved

The echoes of love from Medina,
Float in the gentle breeze.
Remembrance of him,
In the swaying of the Trees.
The hymns of praise,
In the rustling of leaves.
Each expressing their
Love for my Beloved صلى الله عليه وسلم

Separation

My body is dissolving in your separation,
And my soul is breaking into piece, Ya Raulallah.
Due to my sins, my heart is weak and becoming enticed.
Ya rasulallah,
When you pass by me,
Then even in my immense poverty, ecstatically,
I must sacrifice my soul on your blessed sandal,
Ya rasulallah
I am drowned in the taste of your love,
And the chain of your love binds my heart,
Yet I don't say that I know this language (of love) Ya rasulallah.
I am worried due to my misdeeds;
And I feel that my sins have blackened my heart Ya rasulallah.
I am in distress, I am in distress, I am in distress! Ya rasulallah
When you spread your hands to intercede for the sinners,
Then do not deprive Jami of your exalted intercession.

Ya Sayyidi.....

Ya Sayyidi, cast a kind glance upon our sickly faces,
Just for a moment, just for a moment Ya Sayyidi,
May our tongue wherever Allah wills to place us,
Be moist with Salawat on you Ya Sayyidi.

When I say these words of blessing upon you,
I know that billions of others say with me,
In chorus we send with utmost respect to you,
Salutations of peace Ya Sayyidi.

I open my heart and pray that it be cleaned,
So that the words of blessings on you Ya Sayyidi,
Can reach the heavens at a quicker speed,
That my heart may speak them day and night Ya Sayyidi.

The More I Take Muhammad's Name

The more I take Muhammad's name,
The sweeter it seems to me.
Who knew before that in this name
So much of honey could be!

For the honey of this very name,
The bee of my mind doth hum and flirt.
And for the love of this very name,
I have lost my hunger and thirst!

Dearest to me is this name,
Which, like Majnun, I take;
And the nightingale sings
In the rose-bower of my soul
For this name's sake!

For this very name I roam
And wend my way in life:
For this very name I do discard
Even the kingly throne!
May this name, ah God! This blessed name
My mind perpetually pervade!

-Kazi Nazrul Islam

Respect for the Name ‘Muhammad’ in the Court of SayyidinaʿUmar (r.a)

Once, Sayyidunā ʿUmar (r.a) was going somewhere when he heard an individual rebuke someone with the words, ‘This Muhammad is like this; he is corrupt, he has perpetrated such and such an act.’

Upon hearing these words, Sayyidunā ʿUmar (r.a) stopped and gathered everyone together, before announcing, ‘From today, do not name anyone Muhammad! Why? Because every time a person named Muhammad does something bad, I cannot tolerate him being rebuked by anyone with words like “Muhammad stole” and “Muhammad committed a wrong”. Hence, do not keep this name!’

This was agreed as a future guideline, but what about the many individuals who had already adopted this name before that day? Concerning them, Sayyidunā ʿUmar (r.a) said, ‘Change their names too!’

He then asked, ‘What is your name?’
The man replied, ‘Muhammad.’
Immediately, Sayyidunā ʿUmar (r.a) changed it to Abd al-Rahmān and said, ‘If you perpetrate a wrong, I will not be able to tolerate the display of disrespect towards this name (Muhammad).’

Consequently, a man was sent to the tribe of Banū ṬTalhah where seven to nine people bore the name Muhammad. The messenger of Sayyidunā Umar (r.a) relayed the message given to him and ordered that the name Muhammad be changed. Upon hearing this announcement, the leader of Banū ṬTalhah chuckled and remarked, ‘Return and impart the message to the Leader of the Believers that I myself am named Muhammad, and that the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وسلم himself blessed me with this name.’

As soon as Sayyidunā ʿUmar (r.a) came to know of this, he said, ‘From today onwards, my order is suspended. If the Messenger of Allāhصلى الله عليه وسلم himself has chosen and sanctioned the name Muhammad for people, then who am I to oppose it?’

May Allāh Most High endow us with the same level of deference and courteous regard that Sayyidunā ʿUmar (r.a) exhibited in that he could not tolerate any wrong being attributed to the name Muhammad. May Allāh Most High bestow us with true love for the Noble Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم)

Your love decides

How can you live in this world,
If you don't know something about love.
Everyone cares for something,
Everyone even loves something.

This world of Haqq,
Holds a hundred thousand loves,
Look deep within yourself
To see which one is worthy of you.

On the one hand is the love
Of the compassionate, merciful One,
On the other is the love of satan, the rejected. Your love decides
What you are worthy of.

The Prophet Muhammad
Fell into such love here,
His witness was the angel Gabriel,
His Beloved was the Creator.

Mustafa's companions were ‘Umar,
‘Uthman and ‘Ali, and
The greatest of them
Was Abu Bakr, the truthful one.

When Muhammad, the joy of the universes, Ascended to heaven on mir'aj,
He asked God, Haqq,
For blessings on his followers.

Yunus, this is the truth given to you,
How shameful it would be
If you were to look again
At all that you saw before.

Longing for Madina

For how long will longing remain in my heart for Medina?
For how long can my restless heart sigh: ah! Medina!

May I die in Medina and let my grave be in Medina;
Carry me to my grave for I am desirous of Medina!

Come; sit yourself in my heart for it is the sublime heavenly throne;
But if you wish, my bosom could become Medina!

O Lord, my heart craves for Yathrib;
O Lord, my mind is melancholic for Medina.

O eye of imagination! It is enough for you that
Seated at home, in my sight appears Medina!

O God! Saa`il (the poet) yearnings are constant day and night;
At every moment, my heart contains passion for Medina!

Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم

If the body of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلّم had not been born,
Allah would not have created the world.

The whole world was created for the sake of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلّم.
Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلّم is the father of the whole world.

Prophet-hood ended with Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلّم.
There are no prophets after Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلّم.

The light of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلّم was in the world;
Before there was even a notion of Adam and Eve.

Though created last in body;
In reality he is the first of all.

Do not consider him God. He is truly a man.
All good qualities are really His.

Whether prophet, saint or sinner;
Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلّم is the guide of them all.

Those who have accepted the religion of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلّم,
Are heaven bound; both the sinner and the pious.

Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلّم is the guide of the lost,
The walking stick in the hand of blind.

If there is any light, it is obedience to Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلّم.
Besides this, there is no other light in the world.

Muhammad is the helper of the helpless;
The remedy for every suffering person.

I (Rahman Baba) am a sweeper at Muhammad’s صلى الله عليه وسلّم gate, May god not separate me from his door.

يا خير خلق الله محمّد صلى الله عليه وسلم

Muhammad – noblest of the Arabs and the non-Arabs,
Muhammad – best of all those who walk upon two feet.

Muhammad – most expansive giver of all good things,
Muhammad – the master of excellence and generosity.

Muhammad – crown of the Messengers of God, without exception,
Muhammad – in speech and word the one most true.

Muhammad – his substance watered by light,
Muhammad – a light still shining from before eternity.

Oh you, the best of Allah’s creation,
Oh you, the best of Allah’s creation,
Oh you, the best of Allah’s creation,
Muhammed صلى الله عليه وسلم .

Muhammad – to mention him brings refreshment to our souls,
Muhammad – praising him is a duty upon all people.

Muhammad – a master, whose virtues bring delight,
Muhammad – the Most Merciful fashioned him from grace.

Muhammad – the flower of the Creator, and His elect,
Muhammad – pure beyond all suspicion.

Muhammad – this world was made delightful by him being sent,
Muhammad – he came with signs and with wisdom.

Oh you, the best of Allah’s creation,
Oh you, the best of Allah’s creation,
Oh you, the best of Allah’s creation,
Muhammed صلى الله عليه وسلم .

Oh you, the best of Allah’s creation,
Oh the beloved one to Allah,
Oh the prophet of Allah,
Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم .

Madinah

Whoever has longing for Muhammad in his heart,
Wherever he be, he is in Medina.
Even the roses do not possess such a fragrance
As there is in your sweat, kind sir!
Noble sir, the wealth [resulting] from obedience to you
Remains in the treasuries of Muslim hearts.
Thinking of you is a part of faith;
Pleasure lies in drinking from the goblet of [Your] love.
Qamar, whoever does not possess love of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلّم,
He is neither among the dead nor the living!

How can I praise you, Oh Beloved....

There has come a sign from the unknown that I should praise Ahmad صلى الله عليه وسلّم
Friends, neither in my pen nor tongue is there the ability or capacity for this.
My mind and speech are perplexed: if I am to recite, what should I recite?
How can I praise him who is loved by God himself?
This pride, my dignity, they rely on your being,
The outcome of my life is but a spark of your love.
He is the prophet, entirely mercy, consoler of the community;
He has been so kind to us that [out of embarrassment] we can hardly raise our heads.
No one in this world shares in pain and sorrow like him;
O soul, after God, refuge lies in his being.
May my na`t be accepted and I be allowed to enter his presence:
Whether it be a revelation of the holy door or a vision or a glance.
I would sacrifice heart and soul if I have the good fortune of his presence;
My soul would be in ecstasy, the sign of [true] desire.
My prayer is that on the day of resurrection, my master should say to me:
Nuri, what is this fear? Surely you are not unprotected.

(Translation of an Urdu poem written by Nuri)

Ya Mustafa...

Free from sorrow, O Mustafa
To you I plead, O Mustafa

May destiny not trample me,
May I not be disgraced, O chosen one.

May my tongue constantly utter your name,
May my heart remember you always, O chosen one.

May I never abandon the way of virtue,
May It never become one of tyranny and injustice, O chosen one.

May God bestow on me the courage
That I may fulfill His commands, O chosen one.

May I remain, on the Day of Judgment, [nothing but],
A seeker of assistance from your essence, O chosen one.

May a glance of your favor fall on him,
So that Dagh may remain happy, O chosen one.

(Translation of an Urdu poem written by Dagh)

Mother Fathima, show mercy to me

The beloved daughter of the Holy prophet صلى الله عليه وسلّم
O the adored daughter of our Holy prophet صلى الله عليه وسلّم
Our most dignified and affectionate Mother Fatima
Please, show mercy to us by your Holy appearence
As we are distressed by misfortunes
It is our earnest desire to humbly kiss your sacred dress
(Through this we seek to get your blessings and rescued)
We are your helpless foolish children, crying our hearts out
Being tormented by the worldly misfortunes
Seeking your mercy, lying at your feet
please, wipe of the marks of misery and shame
Smeared on our faces
we are unable to bear the heavy burden of pains and sufferings
It is beyond our capacity to describe the torments
O Holy mother, Please do not drive us away
We have none but you to rely on

Ya Rasulullaah...

Ya Allah, I make my petition to thee,
approaching thee
Through thy prophet
Our Master Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلّم, The prophet of mercy

Our master Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلّم,
I have approached my Lord
Through thee in this
My need that is to be met...

Then, Ya Ahmad Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلّم
be to me an intercessor for my distress
since between me and thee Lord stands the fear of
one who has sinned

-Ali Al makki (rahimahullah)
